Acoma Pottery

Acoma pottery is thin-walled and strong, and is traditionally characterized by a brilliant white background. Its potters were among the most celebrated of the past century, and remain so today.

Acoma Pueblo is located 50 miles west of Albuquerque in New Mexico.

Shawna and her husband Patrick (Apache) collaborate on their exceptionally fine pottery.  Patrick forms and fires the pots, which are noted for their ultra-thin walls.  Shawna decorates the pottery and is acclaimed as one of the finest contemporary painters of any Pueblo.  Note the wonderful applique on this exquisite olla.
